This practice honors my father Xuan (pronounced “Swan”), who taught me the practice of mindfulness through the joy of gardening. Each scrape, fall, and mistake became a valuable lesson. The greatest gift is the inner peace I feel, which I hope to help you find as well.

ABOUT ME

My name is Catherine Nguyen. My background is in architecture. I completed my undergraduate at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo graduating with a Bachelors of Architecture in 2011. The study combined my love for art, science, literature and mathematics.  During my college, I was fortunate to receive a scholarship to study in Denmark under the tutorship of many renowned architects from Gehl.  While studying abroad in Denmark, the capital for modern design, the idea of healthcare was conceived in me through urban design in how the creation of our environment can influence human behaviors and how one feels. I worked on a range of projects from residential, skyscrapers then healthcare infrastructures. As I moved through my career in architecture into healthcare infrastructures, I became more interested in healthcare, specifically mental health.

In 2018 I began my Masters of Science in Nursing Program at University of California, San Francisco. During this time, I completed an internship at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs and worked as a Teachers Assistant in Genetics. By 2021, I graduated from UCSF and was accepted into the distinguished residency program at the SFVA training with medical residency in psychiatry.

Since 2022 I have decided to focus my work on complex mental illness complicated with substance use and/or complex medical conditions at Lifelong Medical Care. As of 2025, I am re-transitioning my focus on private practice specializing in functional psychiatry and women’s health as I care for my family with a toddler in tow. I only work with patients who are interested in actively bettering themselves. If you think we would work well together, please reach out to me directly,
